For a stay of a few days, it is recommended to bring along bicycles and hiking equipment.

We would like to emphasize that the special about our site is the calmness and therefore the relaxation and recreation. In spite of the special programmes, we have no animation.
For active and educational tourists, there are numerous cultural and other sights nearby.
What are the main sights ?
Only 15 km far away, you can visit the Middle Rhine Valley which is an UNESCO cultural world heritage.
The towns St. Goar, Oberwesel and Bacharach should be visited and also a boat tour is a special highlight. The stage between Oberwesel and St. Goar can be discovered by bicycle. The 46 km long bike tour starts 500m from the campsite.
The valley of the Mosel is worth seeing: Cochem, Zell and Bernkastel-Kues have their special flair.
Koblenz with the “Deutsches Eck” and castle “Ehrenbreitstein” is also good for shopping or a museum tour. The state capital Mainz is 75 km far away and worth visiting.
Health resorts like Bad Ems on the river Lahn or Bad Kreuznach on the river Nahe are interesting for a day trip.
Interesting excursions can also be made in the southern Hunsrück: the big game park in Rheinböllen, Simmern with the Schinderhannes tower, the airplane museum in Hermeskeil or the gemstone town Idar-Oberstein. There are numerous visitor mines.
Is public transport an option when visiting the site?
The Hunsrück is countryside with a lot of small villages with sometimes less than 100 inhabitants that are in general only 1-3 km apart.
Due to the low population the service of public transport is limited and has its main emphasis on getting people to school and work. From either Hausbay or Pfalzfeld you may take a bus approx every 1-3 hours to the main towns of Kastellaun and Emmelshausen which are approx 8-10 km away.
Not far from the campsite is the Schinderhannes Bicycle path, so it considerable to take a little bike tour to shop. Tourists with motor caravans wishing to go sightseeing will have no problem finding cheap and easy accessible car parks in the various towns. Another option is to take a small rental vehicle for a day.
When is the best time to spend some days on the camping?
The site is open all-year. Favoured months are June and September. Especially in September, the wine parties and the fireworks “Rhine in Flames” and “Night of 1000 Fires” offer a special occasion.
An insider tip is the first weeks in July: The pre-season is over and the holiday camping has not started yet. It is quite calm and recreative.
Please note that all castles and palaces in Rhineland-Palatinate are closed in November.
Do you run animation programmes?
We understand our campsite as one dedicated to rest and peace. There are plenty other campsites that offer animation and children’s programmes with whom we do not like to compete, especially since we offer best prices.
We believe we are a no-nonsense campsite.
For kids there is a playground, a playing field and other facilities such as table tennis, basketball etc. We encourage children to play in the nature of our spacious, to play in the creeks and to build dams as long as there is no damage.
Depending on the season; Christmas, Rhine in Flames or 2011 for the federal flower show or for other events we offer programmes with leisure activities, walks, social evenings, workshops etc.
I have heard about “Rhine in Flames”. What is that?
Every year, there are fireworks on the Rhine between Düsseldorf and Bingen. Interesting for our campers, but a little bit farther away is the event in Koblenz in August. Best is the “Night of 1000 Fires” in Oberwesel and “Rhine in Flames” in St. Goar in September. For both events, we organise a bus transfer; the price is >10 € per person. The bus puts you down centrally, so you can visit the wine party before and after the firework. There are several departure times between 17:00 and 19:30. The firework starts approx. 22:00 and the return starts between 23.00 and 1.00.
To book a bus ticket, it is generally enough to inform us upon registration. We normally have bus tickets available until Friday. If you have a special bus wish or arrive late you may reserve a ticket in writing (no telephone calls).
Please note that it is not necessary to reserve a place on the site, also not on the Rhine in Flames weekends.
Something very special is to watch the event from a boat in the middle of the river. Through very good contact, we can obtain tickets from the KD-line. The price is approx. 45 € incl. dinner.
To reserve a boat ticket, you have to contact us until the beginning of September. Should you arrive on Thursday before the event or earlier, it is sufficient to book the ticket via e-mail and you can pay at arrival on the campsite. If you arrive on Saturday, we would like a security so that we can be sure that the tickets are sold (credit card data is sufficient).
You can choose the menu on the ship. There are two options: Cold plate or warm meal (usually turkey or something like that) with appetiser and bred. We recommend the warm meal. The bus-transfer is designed according the boat timetable; usually you take the earlier departure.
Do you accept credit cards?
Payment is possible with Visa and Mastercard as well as with EC-/Maestro-card. If you stay longer, we give a discount if you pay cash.
Do you have hired caravans / bungalows?
We do not offer hired caravans / bungalows since the demand is low and there are low priced accommodation opportunities nearby.
Can we leave the caravan on the camping for a few days?
We have a special parking area without additional costs for caravans, the price is 1,50 € per night. The caravan can also stand on the tourist places, then the price is 5 € to 8 € according to the season. Very low priced is our offer for seasonal campers; you can install and use the caravan 3 months for 400 € (details see price list).
We would like to spend the Christmas holidays on the camping. Is the camping open?
